Windhoek (Pop. 250,000) is, located in southern Africa, and is the biggest city in the country. Students will take courses at the Polytechnic of Namibia located in the capital city. It is an urban campus in walking distance to downtown. The attractive town lies in a beautiful valley bordered by the Eros Mountains in the north and the Auas mountains in the south. Towards the west, stretches the Khomas Highland to the Namib and the coast. Windhoek combines the modern city architectural style with that of the German colonial era. The city has a cosmopolitan flare. The influence of the German language and culture is, in many ways, still present. There are German restaurants where one can have traditional German dishes, bread and beer, and even celebrate the German carnival. Namibia, is Africa, with its friendly, natural people, endless thornbush savannah, Mopane bushland, Makalani palms and Baobabs, with lions and elephants, zebras and giraffes, an animal world as rich in species as no other on earth. Namibia is home to the Etosha National Park and many other game and nature reserves.
